The rules, in plain English

BIG Transfer is a free file sending service run by Big Ideas NOW (“we”, “us”). By using it you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

What BIG Transfer does

It lets you upload files and send a link to download them, and lets other people send files to you. Files are kept for the time you choose (7, 14 or 21 days; files sent to Big Ideas NOW are kept 21 days) and then deleted automatically. We may delete files sooner, for example if they break these terms or the server needs the space.

Your account

An account needs only an email address and a password. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is sent from your account. You can ask us to close your account at any time.

What you may not send

• Anything illegal, or anything you don’t have the right to share.
• Viruses, malware or anything meant to harm someone’s computer.
• Material that harasses, threatens or exploits anyone.
• Spam, or files sent to people who didn’t ask for them.

If we see the service being misused we may remove files, block uploads or close accounts, and we may report illegal material to the authorities.

Your files stay yours

You keep all rights to what you upload. We only store your files so they can be downloaded by the people you share them with. We don’t look through them, except when needed to keep the service running or when the law requires it.

Keep your own copies

BIG Transfer is for sending files, not for storing them. Always keep your originals. We work to keep the service running and your files safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error free, and we aren’t responsible for lost files or for any loss that comes from using the service, as far as the law allows.

Free for now

BIG Transfer is free today. If we ever change that, we’ll tell account holders by email before anything they use stops being free.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
