How BIG Transfer works

Send big files to clients, get files back from them, and download what’s sent to you. Here’s how.

Send files to Big Ideas NOW

For clients. No account needed.

  1. Open the Send page and press I agree the first time.
  2. Press Send to Big Ideas NOW (or type the email of the person you work with here).
  3. Press Add files or Add folders, or drag them anywhere onto the page.
  4. Type your own email, add a title and a short message so we know what it’s for, then press Transfer.
  5. Keep the page open until it says “You’re done!”. Big files can take a while on a slow connection.

Send files to a client

For the Big Ideas NOW team, or anyone with a free account.

  1. Log in (or sign up free with an email and a password).
  2. Add your files, then type your client’s email. You can add up to 20 people.
  3. Choose how long the link stays live with the calendar button: 7, 14 or 21 days.
  4. Press Transfer. Your client gets an email from BIG Transfer with a download button, and you get an email when they download it.
  5. Rather paste the link yourself? Press the three dots and choose Get transfer link.

Ask a client to send you files

For account holders.

  1. Go to Request, add your name and what you need, and press Create request link.
  2. Send that link to your client by email or text.
  3. They open it, add their files and press Transfer. The files come to your email. They don’t need an account.

Download files someone sent you

For anyone who got a BIG Transfer email.

  1. Open the email from BIG Transfer and press Get your files.
  2. Press Download all to get everything in one zip file, or the arrow beside a file to get just that one.
  3. Save them before the date shown. After that the files are deleted for good.

Questions

How big can a transfer be?

Up to 10 GB in one transfer. Each account can keep up to 20 GB of live transfers at once; space frees up as transfers expire or when you delete them.

How long do files stay?

Files sent to Big Ideas NOW stay 21 days. Files you send to someone else stay 7 days unless you choose 14 or 21. Then they are deleted from our server automatically. You can delete your own transfers sooner in My transfers.

Will I get a reminder?

Yes. If nobody has downloaded the files yet, BIG Transfer emails the person they were sent to 7 days, 3 days and 1 day before they are deleted. If you sent them while logged in, you get a heads-up the day before too.

Do I need an account?

Not to send files to Big Ideas NOW, not to use a request link, and not to download. You need a free account to send files to anyone else or to get a share link.

The email didn’t arrive.

Check the spam or junk folder for an email from BIG Transfer (no-reply@bigideasnow.com). If you sent the files while logged in, you can also copy the link from My transfers and send it yourself.

Who can open a download link?

Anyone who has the link, until it expires. Links are long and hard to guess, but share them only with the people who should have the files.

My upload stopped part way.

BIG Transfer sends big files in small pieces and retries on its own if the connection drops. If it still fails, press Try again. Keep the page open until it says you’re done.

I forgot my password.
